Pasco-Hernando Community College to open Wesley Chapel Campus

A college campus is good news for Wesley Chapel! I spoke with Dr. Randy Stovall, Provost of Pasco-Hernando Community College East Campus. He is excited about the future of the school in this area. Dr. Stovall said, "We are looking forward to serving the students in Wesley Chapel". Please see the article below from 11/25/09 Tampa Tribune. WESLEY CHAPEL - After months of negotiations, Pasco-Hernando Community College appears close to having the land it needs to build a campus in central Pasco County. Board members last week approved a deal with the owners of Wiregrass Ranch to acquire 60 acres just north of Wiregrass Ranch High School at the southwest corner of State Road 56 and Mansfield Boulevard. The land will be donated to the two-year school, said to David Evans, who manages the development of Wiregrass Ranch for the Porter family. Full Article in Tampa Tribune (TBO)

Pasco EDC hires John Hagen to lead economic development

By Lisa Buie, Times Staff Writer Posted: Nov 20, 2009 10:55 AM The Pasco Economic Development Council officially hired its top finalist, John Hagen, as its new president and chief executive officer today. Hagen, 59, is director of the economic development for Surprise, Ariz., a city of about 110,000 that is 45 minutes away from downtown Phoenix. Link to full article in St Pete Times

Rowe Price paid $13.5 million in June for land for an office complex expected to bring 1,600 jobs to Pasco County, a cheer went up from government and business leaders. And though they applauded T. Rowe Price, they recognized that such large-scale victories don't come along often. "You might not get something that provides 1,500 jobs for another 15 years," said County Administrator John Gallagher, although he thinks T. Rowe will definitely generate some spin-off.
